Mark Johnson

co-founder & managing partner

I come from a long line of entrepreneurs. My great-grandfather started the Forslund Furniture Company in 1935. He grew it to international renown by telling stories about his love for his family and his excellence in craftsmanship. My goal at MichiganLabs is to continue on with this legacy of building relationships and providing excellence in craftsmanship.

I have always been tinkering with technology. When I was eleven years old I taught myself how to write code and developed an HTML website focused on providing snowboarding and wakeboarding advice. The website sold to what is now known as About.com.

I completed my bachelor’s degree at Hope College in Holland, Michigan, and received my MBA from Cornerstone University. My life-long love for learning caused me to recently complete a certificate from Harvard University in Cambridge, Massachusetts.

My lovely wife and I have three young girls. Most of my evenings are spent playing dress up or “princess” which I am still not sure the difference. I enjoy playing tennis, golf, ping-pong and most other sports. I am involved volunteering with our church and the Rotary Club of Grand Rapids.
