In some ways Karla has organized her life around being organized. While double majoring in computer information systems and business administration at Aquinas College, she began to see it was her calling.
After earning an MBA from Ferris State University, Karla began working at AVL in Plymouth, Michigan where she created a project management department for IT within the North American business unit. The pilot was so successful it became a global initiative throughout the company.
After AVL, Karla had stints as a senior systems coordinator for Meijer then as a principal project manager at Magenic, a digital technology consulting company located in St. Louis Park, Minnesota. More recently, Karla began teaching project management as an adjunct professor at Davenport University’s School of Technology.
As a delivery lead at MichiganLabs, Karla likes that work travel is light and the talent she gets to work each day, considerable. For her, the energy around the office and opportunity to team up and build cool stuff is hard to beat.
When not keeping project flows smooth, steady and productive, Karla likes mountain biking, skiing, snowboarding, fishing, and mixing in the occasional well-earned nap. She also stays busy raising two young men, which takes the same amount of creativity and organizational skill as her day job.
